The 2 Generations of iPod Nano

There are two generations of the iPod nano:

The difference between the iPod nano and the mini is that the nano, when the first generation came out in mid September of 2005, had roughly the same storage size and price. The Nano was primarily flash drive memory, and the iPod nano, in the first generation, had 1, 2, and 4 GB file storage sizes to choose from.

The second generation of the iPod nano was introduced a year later, and doubled in storage size compared to the iPod mini, which slowly became synonymous with the iPod nano. The nano shoved the iPod mini into a state of being obsolete. If you wanted a mini iPod, you reached for the nano.

With the second generation of iPod nanos came a longer battery life, as well as different colors and styles. The screen became brighter and the storage sizes ranged from 2 GB to 8GB. The prices did not change.
